Congratulations to gridComm and G Element for winning the first prize at the Smart City Innovation Challenge (Vietnam)
The Smart City Innovation Challenge is an initiative by the Mekong Business Initiative, a joint venture of the Asian Development Bank and the Government of Australia, to source deployable solutions to Vietnam’s urban challenges from global innovators. This is open to companies of all sizes looking to gain access to the Vietnamese market.

As one of the 15 shortlisted companies selected and invited to showcase in Vietnam, gridComm presented a smart city solution in collaboration with G Element, in front of the Steering Committee for Smart Cities, various local authorities of cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Hoi An (Quang Nam) and extended audience of industry leaders, technologists and investors within the region.
The integrated gridComm and G Element smart city solution uses sensors to monitor and control street lights and traffic lights. The system allows operators to control the street light brightness, and be notified when the street lights and traffic lights malfunctioned, thus reducing power/energy usage and improving traffic management. The system can also be integrated with CCTVs installed around the city to give a city wide surveillance, improving public security.

The various types of CCTVs carried by Dahua Technologies can be integrated into NUCLEUS to provide building/city operators a situational overview of the building/city. Using NUCLEUS’s virtual guard tour function, security guards can increase the number of patrol frequency. Together with other integrated systems such as access control, building management system, fire detection system, guard/visitor tracking etc, building operators can get information from multiple sources to make informed decisions when emergency incidents occur.

14th August 2015 – G Element has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with NBZ Alliance, comprising of NEC Software (Jinan) Co., Ltd., Qingdao BigHandz and ZTE.
The ceremony took place at Shandong Yantai, where the MOU is signed between G Element’s Managing Director, Mr. Yeow Shin We and Qingdao BigHandz’s Deputy General Manager, Mr. Lou Zhi Hua, while witnessed by Chief Minister of Trade and Industry of Singapore, Mr. Teo Ser Luck and Vice Governor of Shandong Province, Mr. Xia Geng.
