A profile allows you to divide devices on a site into collections to suit your operational needs. For example, a building may have CCTV cameras and temperature sensors, to be managed by a security team and a building management team. To facilitate usage, you may want to restrict access to the respective devices. In such a scenario, you can define two profiles: the security profile and building management profile. The security profile includes only the cameras, while the building management profile includes only the temperature sensors. Therefore, the teams can focus on their own set of devices.

You can create multiple profiles for different users on a site; meanwhile, a device can be included in multiple profiles, depending on usage needs. For example, you may need to use a CCTV camera in both security management and building management.

The profiles enable users to focus on the devices that are of their interest in the site, and NUCLEUS provides a profile manager for you to organize the profiles to suit your operational needs.
